Besides, people are going to notice them at some point and why try to be decrete about them. I purchased two Phonaks BTEs colored in brillant blue with matching half-shell ear molds.I thought they looked cool and often reminded myself that eyeglasses were often seen as "foureyes," but are now hip and trendy. People even buy fake glasses just to look "smart & intelligent," so why not do the same with hearing aids? One day I was in an elevator when a guy with one of the more hip bluetooths asked if I was also wearing them. I replied, " No, they are hearing aids" and he simply smiled as we went our separate ways. Took some getting used to. I've always thought those bluetooth headsets were extremely ugly. Second only to mobile-phone belt pouches in the "ugly phone accesories" list. But I still think it is weird to see people talking by themselves without holding a phone up to their ear. I currently use an induction neckloop (Clearsounds CLA7) and love it not just for the handsfree aspect, but it also gives me binaural benefit for better comprehension. But I never think about how I look 'talking to the air'...though I still can't multi-task because understanding on the phone requires all my attention. I've certainly always noticed when someone was wearing a hearing aid (or when they needed to be wearing one) but I tend to only pay much attention when it is a child or teen.
